Smile how to install the new Fedora linux ?

Hello, friend:
my hard disk(HD) has total 4 drivers(C:, D:, E:, F, and my computer has two operation systems( Window XP and Mandriva linux), and it is dual-boot. But not long ago my Linux system failed to work and its error message shows kernel panic, init not found etc.... Something like this.
So my questions are:
(1) what is wrong about this message? How can I fix this problem?
(2)This is the main problem I have: Now if I would like to re-install the Fedora linux system there, which was borrowed from you last week. But the problem is that: I know my Window XP was in the driver C: , but I could not find which driver the old Mandriva linux system was installed before so that I didn't know which driver I need to install my new Fedora(through overriding the old linux system).
So, could you be kind enough to tell me the steps and ways or commands I can use to find out which driver the old Mandriva was installed? Thanks much!

What Windows calls "Drives" (not Drivers) are actually partitions. Boot up from any Linux "Live CD"--including your Fedora disk--, get into a terminal and enter "fdisk -l".
You should see one or more partitions formatted as NTFS, and at least one as EXT3, EXT2, or maybe Reiser. This is you Linux partition.

If in doubt, post the output of fdisk -l here.

The Fedora installation DVD will also detect during install any linux partitions. It will ask you if you want to reformat all partitions or just the linux partitions. Obviously, you'd select the linux partitions option.
