EDIT: have you tried to use VLC to play the files?

Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install vlc
First install the medibuntu repository:

http://medibuntu.org/repository.php

http://www.unixmen.com/linux-tutoria...rminal-and-gui

Then install either the w32codecs or w64codecs depending of your architecture.

"Realplayer11GOLD.deb" can be installed, if you have a 32bits OS.
http://uk.real.com/realplayer/other-versions
> > http://uk.real.com/download2/realplayer/11/linux/deb/

The command 'uname -a' will show the architecture ( i686? x86_64? )

A general solution : ".. copy the Real 9 codecs files to /usr/lib/win32/ "
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=150

dilip kucheria,

I believe that the VLC media player will now play the .rm format. You can install VLC from the Ubuntu Software Center or from the Videolan (VLC) site: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html .

Hope that helps.

I just tested a *.ram file with VLC, after opening the file in Real Player Gold.

No luck. Real keeps it stuff extremely proprietary.

Also, Ubuntu wants to default real media files to Totem, that Totem doesn't play them either.

I have no problems with Real Player on Linux. It's a variant on the Helix player and it doesn't do all the nasty stuff that Real does on Windows, such as start hidden processes, hide executables in places they don't belong, and keep trying to phone home to Seattle.
