Unhappy how to install progams


how do i install software i downloaded rpm,limewire java but the stuff just wont install im new to linux ive been a window xp guy i have a asus eee 2g ....pls dont give links to go to how to downlaod progams cause i can download it but dont know how to install it pls explain

Package installation varies from distro to distro. You need to provide more detail before anybody can help. What distro of Linux are you using? It might not even be a distro that can load RPM packages.

I think, the eee 2G uses Xandros Linux.
