You need to supply some details.

What distribution are you using?

im running Backtrack5 in virtualbox on a mac osx

https://launchpad.net/wicd/1.6/1.6.2...-1.6.2.tar.bz2

download the source and build the package if you believe that you really need that specific version

Hi,

before you spend time trying to manually install and use this specific version of wicd, you might be better served by requesting help for the underlying problem you are having. Getting the virtual network device to work on a guest machine in virtual box should be trivial (ie changing the version of wicd is unlikely to help). Problems related to how the networking is configured within virtualbox and the host machine are more common.

You would probably be best served using a current version, which is now Kali Linux.
