How to install pgAdmin using yum
Hello...
I am trying to install pgAdmin III in RHEL 5 by using this command: Code:
yum install pgadmin3_91.i386 How can I make yum to install dependencies automatically? Thanks Jaime |
if you get dependencies, then you should be able to find what repo provides all of them. If you showed us what they were, we could tell you I expect, although it should be pretty trivial for you to google it yourself.
|
The package 'pgadmin3_91' from the "PostgreSQL repo" has 2 dependencies,
not installed on a basic OS install : 1) wxGTK 2) postgresql84-libs Both are in the "Redhat repo" : Please activate your Redhat account. .. |
This is the yum output:

Oh yeah, that's the biggy I missed... RHN support. If you don't use RHN you have no business using RHEL in the first place really.
|
What do you mean with that?
|
He means that RHEL is a paid for linux flavor. it's Paid for, because you're paying for the support they provide you.
|
that updates and package repositories are handled as part of the *paid for* RHN service. If you aren't paying to use RHN then you should convert the installation to CentOS instead, which is pretty simple to do.
|
Well... maybe itīs simple, but I don't know how to do it.... never mind, I was just wanting to test an application that uses PostgreSQL locally. I am a Windows user and installed Linux on a Virtual Machine but if this is a complicated and time consuming task, I will prefer to continue testing the application on my hosting company.
Thanks anyways, Jaime |
