how to install packages in fedora 9
 

when using the command
rpm -i packagename
it gives error that
cannot copy file to %usr/src/

you are trying this as user or as root?

The most easiest why use Add and Remove software
second ask for a terminal su enter password
Command yum install yummex
So you have two option in Gui to instal or uninstall software of course you can use yum on the command line
YUM install package name
other wise rpm
But installing and un installing is always root privileges
