Unhappy how to install ndiswrapper for linksys usb wireless

My first post and my first Linux install... what a day! I have a linksys wireless G (WUSB54GC) and trying to get it installed via ndiswrapper (cuz thats what all the research I have found said to do) onto Kubuntu. I got a temp hard wire set up and downloaded the ndiswrapper.gz file. I know this sounds pathetic, but from there I am stuck. Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

Hi Elizabeth and welcome to LQ!
You'll need to give us more information in order to help. You should be able to install ndiswrapper by downloading the kubuntu package for it. I don't think the ndiswrapper.tar.gz file is what you want unless you're planning on compiling it yourself. Otherwise use aptitude or whatever package manager you use to download the ndiswrapper package and then follow the instructions for installation.

You will also need to download the windows driver since I believe that ndiswrapper uses the .inf file that comes with the windows driver. There may be Ubuntu specific tutorials to guide you through the process so you might check on their website.
Cheers,
jdk
