How to install minimal Linux on USB

I want to install linux that can boot from USB with minimal features.i.e. just to run the "dd" command to copy backups. Other features not needed. What shall I install? I tried various packages, DSL, sysrecuecd etc, but the size is BIG. I need a very small one. Anyone can help?

Hi,

Look at the 'Linux Live scripts' to build a LiveCD or USB install.

This link and others are available from 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!
