Welcome to LQ!!

The easiest thing to do would be to use a different distro. Any modern mainstream distro comes with SATA support built in.

If you have a paid copy of RHEL, then the driver should be available from RedHat. This kind of thing is why you paid $ for RHEL--right??

If you don't have a paid copy, but you really want something like RHEL, then you can get CentOS (free clone). Otherwise, try Fedora (the free version of RedHat.)

I assume this is not a new RHEL installation, but rather an attempt to add a SATA disk to an available system. Otherwise I don't see why RHEL wouldn't be able to deal with SATA drives.

I'm using Fedora on most PC's and I like it, but I have to admit that RHEL is surprisingly faster and very stable. That's the reason why someone would want to pay for a system, even if similar ones are available for free.
