how to install linux mint and windows7 on one harddisk
 
I want to install ubuntu or mint linux and windows7 on the same harddisk. How to prepare the harddisk

First, this can easily be found on google.

But, I can explain this to you...
You'll need to install Windows 7 in the first half of the hard disk to a partition and leave the other half blank.
Once done, Install Linux Mint and Select the option "Install Linux Mint 13 alongside Windows 7" and it should create a partition to fill half of the hard disk available and installs.

If your computer is newish and you have enough ram, you may wish to just use a free virtual machine like VirtualBox.

Mint makes this especially easy. If you put the disk in, it walks you straight through it. I have installed several Linux distros, and I have yet to find one that makes it as easy as Mint (even though LuninuX OS comes pretty close).
