How to install linux in desktpo dell xps 8900?

I got desktpo dell xps 8900 i7-6700 processor with 16 gigs of ram, however came with the windows 10 system. I have tried thoroughly install linux mint, however not yet succeeded. So far I managed to install by adding the command pcie_aspm = off after quiet splash in the initial grub. The system was installed but when it restart, does not enter in the system, an error occurs, is in black screen with several letters up. Could someone help me solve this problem?

Did you just add that setting to the grub that boots the live medium? If so, it needs to be added to the installed grub before rebooting: see post #14 in

I'm sorry to delay the return. Thank you for attention. I tried to use the steps to install the mint, but the error persisted. I had success to install debian without any problem. It was only necessary to disable UEFI and enable legacy boot.

Thanks.

Good times.

Do you have a copy (every which way) of microcoughed and\or your drive? :hattip:

No, I don't. I just follow the way of default debian installation, and it worked.

Cool.

Did you DVD.iso install or a thumb drive*? I like keeping a distro or two on hand but a "repair" partition is another option, if ever a snag and it's not broke.

I used a flash drive. As I only need of the linux , I completely deleted the windows 10 system partition.
