i follow the steps in ¨read me¨ file, but at the time ask for the ¨Linux source directory [/usr/src/linux]: I get lost.. donṫ know where should I install the drive.. please help

my card is ver. 3, I tried the methods posted here, but it still doesnṫ work.. Please help
Version 3? Is it 16 bit card? I am using a Linksys version 5.1 which are very cheap and it rocks with RH8.
What type of Hardware areyou trying to install version 8 on ?
I had installed it on a 133 with 64 megs of ram and it ran fine of course I still used a Linksys 5.1 on it.
The cost for this card should be no more than $20.
Might be worth the investment.
