How to install libgnome version 2.7.0

Hi

Can you please tell me how to upgrade or install libgnome version 2.7.0 or higher. I have 2.2.0.1 but I want 2.7.0 or higher version so that I can install the Plugins for Evolution. I have Red Hat Linux installed. Please guide me through the process.

Regards.

What version of Red Hat are you using?

As far as I know, you can't do this without updating GNOME completely (I really don't see any other option to avoid RPM-hell). It might be easier to update(or do a fresh install) with the latest version of Fedora Core (Fedora replaced the free Redhat version after RH9).

Plugin problem

Hi jens,
Now I have installed FC4. But again, I am getting the same error when I try to install Plugin. This is the error:

checking for libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.7.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 evolution-plugin-2.4 >= 2.3.1 ... Package evolution-plugin-2.4 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `evolution-plugin-2.4.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'evolution-plugin-2.4' found

configure: error: Library requirements (libgnome-2.0 >= 2.7.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.7.0 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.4.0 evolution-plugin-2.4 >= 2.3.1 ) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

If I have to upgrade Evolution, please tell me the steps I should follow.
Thanks a lot.

Have you setup yum to upgrade your system with new software. If not, search google on how-to set up yum with good repositories. If you have already setup yum, do

Code:

man yum
to find out how to use yum.

Tux,

Could you post everything you did (how you're trying to do this + more info about the software you're trying to install)?
