How to install gnome network manager in kubuntu
 

I am a ubuntu user and recently install kubuntu desktop in to it.In the ubuntu I am using gnome network manager which is very user friendly to connect Internet.But when I log to kubuntu I am getting headache due to that unfriendly network manager.Still I couldn't connect to Internet in kubuntu.I heard that we can install gnome network manager to kubuntu. I go through several documentation in Internet and tried for that.
And they all failed.most of the document describe to install it via online.But I cant connect to Internet through kubuntu.
Is there any way to do that.Can I do it off-line or can I do it through Ubuntu(can I use Ubuntu synaptic package manager or terminal to install gnome network manager to Kbuntu ).If can how to do it.I am new to linux.

If you have Gnome installed, and from what you say, you have it. That means you already have the NetworkManager applet installed.

So the question should be, how to start it, in KDE.

Open a console and try this. 'nm-applet -sm-disable' without the quotes, just what is between them. That is the command that starts it in Gnome. All I did in Gnome, is looked at "Startup Applications" located NetworkManager, clicked it once, and selected edit.

Try that, and see if that works. I don't have KDE on my netbook, just Gnome, so I can not test it myself.

You may also install wicd, it is a lightweight network manager.

It didn't work for me.I don't have much knowledge in it.so network manager in kubuntu much complicated to me.
I have e160 mobile broadband connection and i can plug and play in ubuntu using the network manager in ubuntu.
But in kubuntu it's not like that.I couldn't connect to Internet in kubuntu at all.I heard wicd don't work for mobile broadband and
I heard that network manager in ubuntu can install in to kubuntu and can use it.Is ther any way to do that or other easy way to connect to Internet.

I try to explain my problem simply
In ubuntu gnome desktop in right upper notification aria there is a applet named network manager applet 0.8.1.

I first connect my e160 mobile broadband dongle and clicked the right mouse button after it detected .

Then i got a drop down menu and i select edit connection from it.Then i got a window named network connection with several menus like wireless, mobile broadband, VPN ,DSL.

I select mobile broadband and click add button and i got a window named set-up a mobile broadband connection
In this window after several detail it mentioned as create connection for this mobile broadband device and
IT GIVE THE NAME OF MY DEVICE AS HUAWEI technology huawei mobile.
Then i click forward button and next window i have to select my country and after forwarding it i got a window to select my service provider.Then it ask for billing plan and it set as default .
after completing them it ask for confirm setting.when i confirm it i can connect easily(click right mouse button on network manager applet give a menu and have to select my connection and enter)

But in the case of kubuntu there is a network manager applet at right lower notification aria.
When i connect my dongle it show it as a picture of a mobile phone.
By clicking it i got menu and i select manage network connection.
Then i got a window named configure-kde network control module and it has the same manu as in gnome nm(wired,wireless.mobile broadband,VPN, DSL) I selected mobile broadband and select add
Then i got a very complicated window which contain
connection name as new cellular connection (in ubuntu it detect my connection as HUAWEI technology huawei mobile)
Then ther is a box to select connect automaticaly
Then under mobile broadband two types of setting
basics
advance
under basic it ask number password user name
under advance APN, TYPE, PIN, PUK(I don't have any idea what they are)
I select connect automatically and click ok (I don't have idea of other things)
Then i got a window with mentioning connection named new cellular connection and last used never
i clicked ok but nothing happened .
Why cant I connect Internet in kubuntu ?What should i do?
