how to install device drivers in linux like dsl modems?


friends m new to this community and linux!...pls help me out

while installing the device drivers in windows...either it detects it automatically or we can go to >>my computer>>properties>>device manager>>driver signing

how to proceed in linux??...my distribution is open suse

Generally, the kernel will automatically load the correct driver for it as a module.

What exactly are you trying to get working?

What is it that you want to accomplish - specificly?

Drivers are part of the Linux-kernel (usually).

For "Suse" the equivalent of

is its configuration-tool which was (last time I checked) called "yast".
If you need a driver you probably need a "kernel-module" - which in "Suse" is likely already available or installable via "yast".

Please try and read _some_ documentation about the system you are using.
Suse is well documented.
With Linux the ways to achive a certain goal are not likely to be the same as they are in windows...
