How to include Background processes in shell script


HI all,

I need to include few background processes in a shell script.

I need to automate a series of steps (commands)through a shell script.

I'm a newbie,so can some one help how to start on this approach

Nice simple answer.
Use '&' at the end of your command.
so...
>dosomthing &
This would put the command 'somthing' in the background from a command prompt or shell script.

It would help out a lot if you could give a few details about your goals. How about explaining exactly what you want to do, and show us the code you have so far?

Also, be aware that, especially if this is a homework question, we'll guide you and help you, but we're not here to just give you the answers. You'll learn more by doing your own work.
