How to Identify hardware?


At present, I'm just trying to figure out what video card is installed.

run lspci in a root or su terminal might show it

You also might install lshw (it is almost certainly in the Debian repositories). It will tell you more about your hardware than you ever wanted to know. The GUI version (gtk-lshw) is very nice.

Open the big box and look inside at the (bigger sized) chips. Sometimes you can stick the wording on the chips into Google and find out more.
