Thumbs up how to hear the songs in rhel 5


hi
this is vinoth .im using redhat el 5 . i have doubt that is how to hear the songs in redhat el 5 then before that whether sound driver is already installed or not. if not means how to install on redhat linux system. anyone pls clarify my question.

To see if the sound drivers are loaded properly in Red Hat, there is a utility called " sndconfig " that in most cases will detect your sound card and help set up all of the necessary configuration files to load the appropriate sound drivers for your card.

# sndconfig
The other way is to simply check if sound modules are loaded by the kernel.

Code:
# grep snd /proc/modules
You also have to check if you have an existing sound-card available...

Code:
# cat /proc/asound/cards
A working sound-card will produce output that looks something like this:

ionrivera@it-024138:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xfea78000 irq 16
