Question How to have cd/floppy icons on Gnome ?

Hi!

How can you in gnome have the floppy, cdrom, additional disk icons stay permanently on the desktop?

Pressing on them should mount and open a window. It's obvious in KDE but I can not find the way in Gnome.

Thanks.

Michel

because of how linux systems are set up, i dont believe its possible to leave them on the desktop.

linux is configured to mount and umount partitions and devices, the icon only appears when there is something in the cd drive and when you right click on your desktop and hit mount > floppy for the floppy

Shell Scripts!!!

You could always write a shell script and put a soft link on your desktop!

Sincerely,

well, you could just go into ~/.gnome-desktop and make a link to the cdrom and floppy, no guarantee it will work

ln -s /mnt/floppy ~/.gnome-desktop/floppy
ln -s /mnt/cdrom ~/.gnome-desktop/cdrom

guess i never thought of that
