How to get the (xmule) core running?

I saw that a replacement of emule for linux was kmldonkey. And since my suse 9.0 dvd had it, I installed kmldonkey. But now it says that it can't connect. I have been looking over the internet for information about this, and what I found out was that I have to start a (xmule) core?
Now is my question, if al this information is correct, how do I start that core, because I couldn't find any documentation about that?

ive never managed to get xmule working in linux.
if you are after a file shareing program, there are many others.

gtk-gnutella (my fave)
limewire (good, but programmed in java, so u need the java interpreter)

You are talking about two different things here.Kmldonkey is a frontend for mldonkey.Xmule is another app that uses the same network (edonkey). For info about mldonkey go to http://mldonkey.org
Xmule didn't work too good for me but I didn't use it in a while.
