How to get boot prompt?
I m running Mandriva Linux 2005 limited edition. I cant get the boot: prompt from where i can run the single user mode. I think the default boot loader for Mandriva is Lilo (am i right?) I could not get out of the graphical interface provided by the boot loader. Any ideas?
Thanks. |
wll if it's lilo, just type linux (or whatever option you boot ussualy) and append the word single to it:
linux single if it's GRUB you are using (the graphical boot loader) then you will probably have to press c or e, it should be written in the bottom of the boot loader and edit the kernel line, append the word single to it: kernel /vmlinuz....... single |
I am using LILO (graphical version). What do i do to get the boot: prompt ??
Thanks. |
Hey I got it...it was the ESC key :D
Thanks a lot. |
Well if I understand you right ... you can either get to a prompt by clicking the konsole icon at the bottom of the screen or ... you can hit [Ctrl + Alt + F1] and to get back to your GUI ... hit [Ctrl + Alt + F7]
I hope that helps:p |
if using grub
u press e [edit] and then b[boot] passed to kernel as an argument without quotes |
