How to get beacon GPS tracking uint to work with Ubuntu 8.04 lts


I have ubuntu 8.04 lts on my dell latitude d410 laptop. I have a winplus beacon GPS tracking unit. Is there a way that i can get the gps unit to download information and connect to my laptop? Thank you
