How to ftp a dir in RH9

i can ftp files using the following command

put /path/filename /path/filename

it will however not allow me to do the same with directories

how do i ftp the entire directory

You could use mput.
Use lcd <~/home/somelocaldir> to change to the local dir you want to upload.
mput * will send over all files from the current localdir to server-dir.
Type p when it askes for: [anpqy?]?
to go into 'prompt off' (non-interactive) mode, to not confirm each file to upload.

ftp will not put or get directories--only files

You can use tar to put everything in one file---or mput and mget


directory, ftp
