Welcome to LQ. To find your kernel version, type into a terminal
Code:

uname -a
The config file is usually at
Code:

/usr/src/linux/.config

Just for info sometimes I used to see the config file inside /boot directory also combined with kernel name, may be its of different distro and differnet installation type.
