how to enable network manager: Suse 11.3:


Hi,

Network was working fine. Laptop ran out of power. now not able to connectt to network. Network is reproted as 'unmanaged', with "Network manager disabled".

how do I re enable the network manager ?

thank you in anticipation

try this:
Yast -> Network Settings -> Global Options. On this tab, Network Setup Method gives you the choice of NetworkManager or Tradtional ifup.

once you get the network back up

the "ifup" and "ifdown " should reset it
it is time to think about installing 11.4 .11.3 will soon ( a few months ) hit "end of life ".

-- a guess ONLY on "wlan0" it might be usb or something else --

su -
ifdown wlan0

ifup wlan0
but a laptop should BE using the manager so turn OFF the "Tradtional ifup" setting
