how to disable sendmail and enable postfix?

After a lot of mad struggling with Postfix I was up2dating (RH v7.2) my system and in the process manage to restore a few Sendmail files. So now I can send mail outside of my box, which is GREAT! But it now transpires that it is Sendmail which is doing the work and nothing to do with my painstaking efforts with Postfix's main.cf.

How can I disable Sendmail and have Postfix as default mailer for ingoing and outgoing, internal and external mail? thx. JM :confused
