How to disable hardware check during redhat boot?

Hello. Please help.

I have RH ES 3.8 installed into VMware. During the first startup it stops on checking for new hardware. How can i disable checking for new hardware?

Boot the system into runlevel 1...........

When the grub splach screen is displayed press any key. Select the Linux boot choice and press the 'e' key. Highlight the kernel line and press the 'e' key again. At the end of the line add a space followed by the number one (1). When done press the 'Enter' key followed by the 'b' key. When done booting type the command (sorry for the eariler typo); /sbin/chkconfig -level 345 kudzu off

Now you do not have to reboot, just type:

for the console mode; init 3
GUI (X-windows) mode; init 5
