How to determine drivers loaded by Knoppix
I am new to Linux and am still trying out distributions. I have an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard with an nVidia nForce 2 Ultra 400 chipset and an ATI Radeon 7000 video card. I have tried both Debian and Fedora Core, and the audio and video drivers auto-loaded by each system are less than ideal. In the case of Fedora, I cannot even get my audio to work.
When I toss a Knoppix Live DVD in, however, my video looks great, and my music sounds even better. How can I determine which audio and video drivers Knoppix is loading, and how do I install them onto, say, my Debian installation? I would like to spend the time to learn the nuts and bolts of Linux, but it's somewhat difficult to get started when my audio and video don't work properly. Any help is appreciated. |
In the root terminal type "lsmod" (no quotes).
That will display the loaded kernel modules. The root terminal is in the Knoppix option from the KDE menu. |
Thanks for the tip.
