how to detect modem?


Hai all,
when i am trying to activate the modem through GUI
Network Device control it is showing me an error

cannot activate network device ppp0?

when i hav given the command wvdialcong /etc/wvdial.conf
it is showing me an error
no modem was detected is it in use by another program?
did u configure it proprly with setserial?

is anybody who can help me out with this problem.

Run these two commands
Code:
lspci -v
setserial -g /dev/ttyS*
and paste the output here.
