how to delete too many emails in my box?

hi to all!

i have DSL line with public ip, then 1 day my ISP called me, said that too many mails sent in my box every minute, and also said the maybe we've been hacked then i checked my box and found out i dont have enough free disk space to run x windows. i dont have any idea what should i do first? i am new with sendmail.

my questions is:

how can i know that we've been hacked?
how can i delete too many emails in my box? (i am using sendmail)
where is the location of the mails sent to me?
how can i prevent too many mails sent in my box?

i am a newbie with mailing system. as well as in security.

maybe someone can help with my problem...i really appreciated

thanks

I assume that you haven't been hacked but your
sendmail may be an "open relay" ... to verify you're
clean get knoppix-std and run chkrootkit.

Check your logfiles ... lock down any service
towards the world you don't really need, only
allow incoming traffic where inevitable. Make
sure you use strong passwords (I mean strong...
mine are alpha/digit/punctuation, and longer
than 20 chars :})

Cheers,
Tink
