how to del the history


how can i del the history in my linux box(RH)? ive 2 user and 1 root access but on the user one is also has a root permission but when ever i del the .bash_history and type the command history i can see the command and things that i do .. how can it be erased permanently..

To completely clear it:
history -c

To return it to the same as it was before you logged in:
history -r
