How to default Resolution kubuntu 10.10 64bit

I am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. I just went from ubuntu 9.04 and changed to kubuntu 10.10 and I have a few issues on making my resolution default. I have went in my system settings> monitors and changed the resolution but it keeps coming back to different resolution after I reboot.

I have check the md5 on the disk and it reports no errors.

Hi there James,

I think you have to reconfigure the X-Windows system
Quote:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
also I have a question to ask; did you perform an upgrade or fresh installation?

Regards,
Marwan.

Forgot to mention that backing up the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file could sometimes be helpful

http://www.x.org/archive/X11R6.8.1/doc/xorg.conf.5.html
the above link could be helpful, it explains the xorg.conf file so you can play with the parameters but always take a backup first :)

I will try to reconfigure the X server. The thing is I noticed I don't have a xorg.conf from a fresh install. I actally find a few things wrong and thought I had a bad disk so I checked it and it finds no errors. But I will post be later when I get a chance to see if it worked
