how to create linux driver disk for installation

Dear All,

Please let me know how one can create linux driver disk for using at installation with "linux dd" I have compiled kernel modules for Sata ata_piix.ko libata.ko for which I want to create the driver disk. After doing some googling I came to know that following files are required by any linux driver disk.

modules.cgz, disk-info, modinfo, modules.dep and pcitable.

In which modules.cgz actually contains the *.ko modules but I am unable to understand what to write in other files.

Please help me in creating driver disk for ata_piix ICH8 Serial ATA Storage Controller for linux

Regards,
John

There is very little documentation for creating driver disks. For examples of the contents of the files in the driver disk, look at these links:

Thanks bigrigdriver for help

Thanks bigrigdriver. Driver Disk created. Now I am facing following problems when try to load drivers from disk created.

Alt+F4 output

failed to insert module ata_piix
ksign: module signed with unkown public key
ata_piix: disagrees about version of symbol struct_module

Actually I am using compiled modules of 2.6.18-8.el5 for installing 2.6.9-55.0.0.0.2.EL

So what could be the work around for enabling SATA support or Creating SATA driver disk for 2.6.9-55.0.0.0.2.EL?

Any Idea?

Regards,
John
