how to create link into actual file?

hi,
I need to create a web page visible from the Mozilla with links into the actual file ,say, /etc/fstab. The link must be to actual file itself and not a screen dump or text dump.
Can anyone help me out?
Thx in advance!

My Mozilla 1.0 on Debian replies correctly to this syntax:
file:///etc/fstab
Is that what you wanted?

Oh! Got it, now!
Isn't it because "file:///..." refers to a local filesystem?
I guess you'll have to replace "file:///etc..." with a remote link. Say, if you're accessing from another intranet computer, it should be something like "href=http://192.168.0.x(or whathever intranet ip you use)/etc/fstab".
Did you try this already?

You could turn on the "follow symbolic links" directive in apache and then just symlink it to document root. There are some security implications in using symlinks.
