Question How to convert window's drives to linux?


hi
i have dual boot OSs on my system Windows and Linux on G drive.Now i want to reinstall Windows and save my data of windows drive's in linux.As don't have any temporary storage i want to save my data on my hard disk itself so that i transfer it back to new windows installation.Is there any way possible.If yes,then kindly tell.

Spec:-
OSes:
Red hat linux FC8
(Space occupied:
G:\ 15GB)
Microsoft Windows XP
(Space occupied:
Disk Drives Drive Size Percent Free
C:\ 39GB 7%
D:\ 17GB 20%
E:\ 39GB 8%
F:\ 39GB 11%
)

Hardware:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz
Hitachi 160GB hdd

I suppose the files you want to save are all in C:\ drive.

Boot into linux.
Mount the windows drive (most probably /dev/hda1 as ntfs).
Copy the files you want to backup to a folder in your /home directory.

Reinstall Windows in drive C:\ and do not modify other drives.
Use a linux boot disk to boot into linux and reinstall grub to the MBR.

Done.
