How to connect to the Internet
Hello.
The ALT Linux Enlightenment was installed in the virtual environment of the VMware Workstation 12 Pro. I am in trouble not know how to connect to the Internet. What is special settings needed to connect to the Internet. If you have person there you know, thank you for advice. |
Hello and welcome to LQ.
A virtual machine is somewhat like a real computer with the exception of how the network is being used. There tends to be three ways a VM can attach to the host. Bridged, NAT and Local. Read up on that first in the VMware's documentation and report to us which you selected when you created the client. The second is how normal linux connects. Have you configured Linux to work before? |
I received your reply, Thank you very much.

Hello.
Connection to the host is NAT. Perhaps there is a flaw in the way of installation of ALT Linux. Linux configurations might be bad. |
I tend to use NAT. I don't doubt it could be an issue with ALT but you should start looking at the network just like any new install. Not sure bridged would fix it easily but could be and it may be worth a try to start.
The basic things needed to access internet in linux are a supported network interface card, way to get IP addresses and DNS usually to start. Does it have the network adapter that the client can see? What is lspci for network show? |
make a second connection "bridge" to bridge the nat or wifi to your VM install -- if I remember correctly
