How to connect to Internet


I have installed lInux Red hat 9 in my home machine. I have a modem and a dial up connection. This is working fine for windows. How to set up the modem and access the internet using Linux. Please help. My modem is
Intel(R) Ham 5628 V.92 modem.

First you'll need a driver which I assume one of the above suggested sites will help you out there. Then the modem will be mapped to a /dev/ttyXY device where X will usually be a letter and Y a number. Then it's a good idea to make a symlink called "modem" to ttyXY so that you always specify the destination as /dev/modem. Easy to remember. It's a good idea to get an app called minicom. It's an old style terminal program that good for testing modems.
