Question how to connect internet in Ubuntu

I'm a newbie.I'm fed up from windows operating system. So I'd ordered a UBUNTU linux.I'd installed it very easly.
And found it very attractive and pleasent.
But I don't kno anything about linux.
On its program's menu every program needs internet for update.
I wanna kno how to connect internet in it.
I'm using a nokia phone and AIRTEL network as internet provider.
In windows I used nokia PC suite to connet to internet.
Can it also run on UBUNTU.
Please anyone help me out........
