Hi

To configure your proxy:

Code:
# export http_proxy=http://myuser:mypassword@myproxy.mydomain.com
You just substitute your proxy server and username/password (if any).

You could add the above line into your /home/myuser/.bash_profile so that every time you login your proxy environment variable is set.

Hi and welcome to LinuxQuestions!

Another approach - specific to yum - is to edit the file /etc/yum.conf and add the following lines under the [main] section:
Code:
proxy=http://proxy.dummy.org:8080
proxy_username=username
proxy_password=password
where obviously you have to change the URL and port number of the proxy server with their actual values. See man yum.conf for details.
