how to configure yum for proxy server

I tried to configure yum for a proxy server and then tried to install mplayer. I got the following error:
CRITICAL:yum.cli:Config Error: Parsing file failed: File contains no section headers.
file: file:///etc/yum.conf, line: 1
'I[main]\n'

What could be possibly wrong?

Did you setup your proxy for firefox only??? Did you set your proxy for your entire network??? A bit more info would be helpful.

Cheers
