Red face how to configure samba

greetings

i want to install linux in a 40 gb hard disk, firstly i want to know if fedora or redhat linux can be installed on the hard disk and it will be partitioned twice, the other partition will be for installing win server2003. i once heard that linux need something like 4gb hard disk.

im using a Pentium 2 machine which has a 512 mb RAM and 40gb HDD. So what is really needed to have linux in a machine.

how do we install it!

If you are looking for a server, go RedHat or CentOS (a free edition of RedHat). Fedora is too cutting edge and has too short a release cycle.

havea look at the installation manual at www.redhat.com, but you machine should run it fine without a GUI (which you don't want for a server anyway).

How much space do you need? Depends what you want to do. I'd probably allow more than 4g myself, but it is so simple to do an install (maybe an hour end-to-end) that you could either reinstall or just expand the partion if too small.
