how to configure lan card in ubuntu 8.1


Hi !! i'm new in Linux World, i install the new version of Ubuntu. 8.1 and mi network adapter only show's me Protocol TCP /IP V 6 .. how can i configure mi NIC??? or someone can say where i get information??
MOther MSI PT 880
NIC: VIA Networking Velocity Family Giga-bit Ethernet Adapter

1. Post here the output:

mii-tool

If it shows eth0 link as OK
Then perform the following:

2. The /etc/network/interfaces must include:
Code:
iface eth0 inet dhcp
if dhcp has to be configured

For static IP:

auto lo eth0
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet static
address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(enter your ip here)
netmask xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
gateway xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(enter gateway ip here)
