How to configure firefox.

I am new to Linux and am having trouble with setting up my internet connection using Firefox. Between netmasks, ipconfigs, etho? and proxies, even in GUI settings it am unfamiliar with how to get things set up. is there someplace I could go to to find an easy way to find what these subjects are? Thanks in advance Sean H.

Assuming the rest of your operating system is getting a connection, you shouldn't have to do anything special to configure Firefox unless you need to use a special proxy. If you don't have a connection set up at the system level, you'll need to at least mention what type of connection/network you have for someone to help.

Are you trying to set up your network, or are you trying to configure firefox. There is a book on the www.tldp.org website on Network Administration. It will give you a good background in how networks work.

You haven't provided any information on your network or even which distro you are using. If you opt to use DHCP, then most items will be configured automatically. In most cases, a Cable or DSL modem or a router will contain a DHCP server.
