how to compile programm for suse 9.3?


hi guys.. Can any body help me to how i can compile software or drivers on my suse 9.3 on inspiron 9300????I want install intel pro wireless 2200 driver ....... also the Aircrack for wireless crackin software to check my wireless home network.......It says i had to ./configure make make install or someting to write ...but god swear it doesnt work !!!??? of course i was root user.. what ever i write it says no such a file or command? some thing like that.....It seems i have to install some thin to able to do this ? what the hell is the stuff? where can i download ? how can i install them into my linux?

guys help me as u can?it's a childs play for you .. Not for me anyway..thanks

Sounds like you are really new to Linux. Make your life easier and try to find the RPM packages you need for SuSE 9.3 and install them via YaST.

Try to find the packages you need from rpm.pbone.net Once you find the packages you need double click them and install using YaST. If you get dependency problems, search for the missing packages.

To make it easiser if you have a bunch of packages, before you install add the directory to YaSTs installation source.

As to compiling from source you need to have the compilers installed. Again use YaST to do this.

unpack the tarball, then cd into the dir, then do a ./Configure && make && make install

Please be more specific. Your post was very vague. The procedure you described does not help if you do not have the packeages required to compile installed. SuSE is an RPM based distribution and if you find the right RPM then you don't have to compile anything.

he has the tarball already and i see that he did ./configure, as u know linux is case sensitive, theres his first problem, second if that package wouldnt work then why was he able to find it and download it. but you are right it is an rpm base distro but that command line would work just fine
