How to check 3G connection specific information

Hello

I was wondering if there is a way to check my 3g connection type if it is running 3G or GPRS and how to set these modes.

I am currently connecting a Slackware 14.1 system using wvdial.

If you require more information let me know.

Thank you
Marios

I can only give general advice here, as it will likely depend on your particular device, but I think including the 'AT^SYSINFO' /etc/wvdial.conf might do what you want here
Code:

Init4=AT^SYSINFO
Signal level can force the connectivity used, but it may be possible to set connectivity (again depending on the hardware in question).
