how to change the root-passwd on a OpenSuse-System?

dear Gentlemen, dear Linux-experts,

i am running opensuse 12.3 on a notebook - and i must confess that i am fairly new to Linux and all that OpenSource-things

what is the problem: i have a passwd - and i want to change it.

the question is: how to change the master- or root-passwd

is this doable?

Yes.

Open a terminal and become root user (either use su - or sudo su - or sudo -i) and use the passwd command to change the password.

I do assume you have the original password (it will be asked).
