How to change the parameters of in-built gspca to increase the image quality
Hi,
I'm using Logitech WebCam on fedora 11 and running webcam server to capture the images on the browser.. it works fine but the image quality is poor... could anyone suggest me how to change the image quality by passing parameters via command line?? I tested Video quality on cheese as well, which is poor too.. I searched a lot in google for a solution but no use... i got some patch but couldn't install that since the gspca driver on my fedora 11 is in-built.. May i know what is "gtk-v4l"? is that a package that i need to install? if yes, how can i pass the parameters to gspca driver to increase the brightness.....
And let me confirm you that i haven't used any stuff like that... I just asked "someone please Help" what's wrong with this? |
I was talking about you asking in the wrong way and not spelling your words properly.
And yes, gtk-v4l is a package you can install and see if you can use that to increase the brightness. Code:
yum install gtk-v4l |
Ok as you said, i will install the package. May i know how can i change the image brightness using gtk-v4l? Gspca driver on my system is in-built. Please give the appropriate command/example which does the same.

What do you mean built in?
|
Built-in means which is already "Included in a system by default, as a standard, or at the time of construction", here on fedora 11 "gspca driver" is in-built, I have not installed it, i hope u can understand, if not, find it out in google or improve your english first.
I'm seeking help from this forum, to solve my issue which is quite important and not to learn English, which i know better than you. stop advicing and don't send me "LEARN ENGLISH" links anymore. Stop criticizing and Help me if possible, please don't reply if you can't. I request someone else to Help me or else good bye to this forum. |
Well don't go throwing a hissy fit there, sir. I asked about the built-in thing because originally you said "Gspca driver on my system is in-built." At first I didn't understand what you meant by that. And I take it that other another user has been talking to you, huh? And the links at the bottom are in my signature, they are sent regardless what I respond with. It is not directed to you. One last thing - "Someone Plzzzzzzzzzzzzz Help....... " You see all of the z's and the misspelling? It's a form of complete laziness and trolling, and we don't like that in the forums.
Now back to the original question - Just post the output of lsusb and lsmod, and I just might do everything for you. My way of troubleshooting is a bit different than everybody else, I like asking questions to know exactly what is going on. |
well at this particular moment, i just worried about my issue and not about the people, if they like or not. I don't want to comment regarding that anymore.
As requested, output of "lsusb" and "lsmod" is attached below. Let me confirm my question again. How can i increase the brightness of the image? i'm running webcam_server-0.50 to capture the image and displaying the same on the browser (http://127.0.0.1:8888). Is there any way i can set the brightness, contrast etc., manually? Output of lsusb: Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 002 Device 006: ID 046d:092f Logitech, Inc. Hey man, check out posts 3 and 8 on this page: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=106357
I think that is what you are looking for. I started to reply before, but then I thought of something, and clicking on this and that led me to that page on skype.com. Let me know if anything of that helps, since that is a lot of material, and I am not going to summarize that much LOL |
think what he is looking for is v4lucp
it comes up in system/preference as video4linux control panel you can set the things he needs to do in it and look at what it looks like as you do it |
I already mentioned a GUI he could use, but the OP doesn't want to use it.
And by the way, I'm not sure what you are running, but on my system it is v4l2ucp. |
Thanks for your reply, I'm not using skype, so your link doesn't help me. i'm displaying the image on the browser where i need to increase the brightness.
I think we need to increase the brightness value in webcam_server.c file but i don't know where to change. I never said i don't want to use GUI, i asked an example to use that but i dint get any from you. I would be happy if i can increase the brightness of the image by using some GUI. |
Ok, now you are confusing the hell out of me. You want to increase the brightness of your webcam, correct? I already gave you an example, which is to use gtk-v4l, along with v4l2ucp from the other user who posted. What else do you want me to do, post a screenshot with an arrow pointing to the brightness slider?
|
Ok leave it. Thanks for your Help.
|
Is that what you needed though? Sorry if I sounded rude before, but I really was confused :p
