How to change the default browser in debian?

Hi,
I am using debian etch. It uses epiphany as its default web browser. I use flock and want to make flock as the default browser. I made flock the default from its preferences menu but it did not work.
How do I do it?

thanks,
Viny

This is a contribution to a similar thread on another site:
Graham said there
"Try in a root console: "update-alternatives --config x-www-browser" (no
quotes). Then set your default browser from there. What you set here will
become the default browser system-wide."

I found this worked for me.

Open up gconf-editor, either from the menu, or by typing gconf-editor in terminal.

Click desktop, then applications, then browser. Click on the text where it says epiphany-browser, and put "flock" or another browser of your choice in there. (Assuming flock is the command to start the browser, I use iceweasel, and it is just "iceweasel.")

EDIT: You may try to right-click on an html file, and select properties -- open with flock. I had to do that, to see my own html-pages in iceweasel.

Hopefully, this will help someone googling for an answer to this, just like I did a few mins ago.
