How to change the BIOS settings in linux

Actually I want to change me bios settings but I dont know how to get to BIOS settings.
Plz tell me from scratch.

The BIOS (and CMOS for that matter) exist separately of the operating system (Linux, Mac OS, BeOS, etc.). When you turn on your computer, watch the screen before it gets to the bootloader as it will tell you which button to press to access the BIOS - usually, it's the Delete key.

There are quite a few different BIOSes out there, but they usually all follow the same layout principles. What in the BIOS/CMOS are you trying to change?

It could be one of the following keys depending on what manufacturer your computer is made by:

Del
ESC
F2
F8
F12

well, hold down or jiggle the 'del'. 'f2' or others then you have to make your mind up. The more sophisticated the motherboard the difficult the choices. My theory is keep it as simple as possible but add what changes suits you.

What it is you're trying to achieve by changing the BIOS settings?
It seems weird to me that someone decided they need to change the BIOS but don't know where it is...to me it usually means "don't mess with it'.
It's like the registry in windows - people ask how to get to it when all they want is to uninstall something or clean it and there are programs for that...

doesn't it tell you when at POST what keys to hold for accessing BIOS options ? do you know what kind of motherboard you have ? or do you have a manual / look one up on the net.
