how to change system configuration in Zenwalk 5.0?

I have successfully installed Zenwalk 5.0 on a laptop, configured a user and logged in. Now I would like to configure the system preferences, starting with the network/internet. First of all, I don't know which dialog window is used for that, but to find out I have to be able to open the windows in the System menu. But the OS asks for a password with user root (can't change that user). What password do I enter?

Greetings from a incredible newbie, but just you wait.

During installation of Zenwalk, you were asked to setup a root (administrator) password, as well as a user name and password. To change system global configs (affects all users), you need root authority. The password to enter is the root password you set up during installation.

And if I forgot the password? *stupid*

Well. Since it's a new installation, you won't be losing much in the way of configuration files. So, the quickest thing to do is re-install, with pencil and paper handy. Be watchful, and when you are prompted for usernames and passwords, write the down.
